OVERVIEW
This new release introduces many new features and enhancements for the mz-16 and mz-32 radio systems. While our previous release was primarily a maintenance release this release addresses many user requests with new and improved functionality which increase the value of your Graupner radio.
We have taken the "centered around you" capabilities of our radios a few steps further by giving you more control over presentation with the ability to assign image widgets to your models, custom startup screens, added system sound control, support for pressure sensors and new third-party hardware.
Besides some small fixes, we also enhanced many existing functions requested by our customers.
This new release provides updated English and German reference manuals and help screens reflecting the latest changes. Make sure you use the Firmware Upgrade Studio and check the resource files update box. When asked, select the applicable resources for your language (Help, Voice and Manual).
NOTICES
- After loading a model used in a previous firmware release prior to v1.038 and before making any model changes you will need to cycle your radio power to ensure the model is stored in the new version format.
- In this new version the widget structure has changed which requires saving the modified model widget. This can be done by loading the model which will automatically adapt the new widget structure and save it. To save the new widgets structure go to the System/ System Set/Model Preset/Widget menu by saving the preset widget which will ensure that each new model will have the current widget structure. To apply the new widget structure to all of your existing models, load the model and from the System/System Set/Model Preset/Widget menu load and apply the previously saved preset widget.
- For some languages, the folder Voice / Unit needs to be renamed from unit to Unit (Capital U) prior to performing the update. You can check the folder with the File Manager in the system menu. For some languages you may have to rename the folder in two steps. First from unit to Uni and then to Unit.
- As a precaution backup all your models prior to performing the firmware update by connecting your radio to your computer, set it to USB mass storage mode (System/USB/Mass Storage) and copy all your models files to your computer.
FIXES
- Clearing Widget data has been corrected and will not clear timer widgets when the “Power on init” box is not checked in the model timer menu.
- Control Notice:Corrected delay timing for phase dependent settings.
-
I/O Set:Corrected motor-stop function for the SP-Protocol.
- System Notice: Changed phase normal to phase 1 as the phase identifier normal could be renamed.
IMPROVEMENTS
- Voice Notice: Lap timer notifications resolution has changed from 1 second to 0.1 second improving the lap timer accuracy. We also improved the lap timer handling.
- Voice Notice: Increased the maximum time delay for notifications from 60 seconds to 300 seconds.
- Control Notice: Increased the maximum time delay from 10 seconds to 20 seconds.
- Control Notice: When only 1 cycle is used with a delay time, the control notice will only sound after the set delay time.
- Trim View: When making a trim change the trim menu will now revert to the main screen faster (less delay)
- Vario Tone: Tone frequency at center and center scale has been improved.
- Vario Tone: Sink tone signal is now more prominent and increased.
- Sound Set: The dialog option @BT: Speaker On/Off is now only visible when Bluetooth is checked in the BT & COM-Port menu. This will keep the internal speaker on when for example Bluetooth is used for communicating with the HoTT-Viewer App.
- Channel Sequencer: Controls and free mixers can be used before the channel sequencer which improves overall functionality of the sequencer
- First RF connection warning after power up is now announced after 7 seconds which provides the user adequate time to turn on the receiver.
NEW
Support for Pressure Sensors
Support for pressure sensors connected to a Graupner General Engine module has been added in this release. Depending on your system unit settings the pressure will be displayed and/or announced in BAR or PSI.
Tapping on the pressure widget will show the maximum and minimum recorded pressure.
User telemetry notices can monitor maximum and minimum pressure providing a timely alarm depending on value settings.
System Notice/Control Position
The Start Control Position option will now also check for the positions of any LV or DV control. This will greatly enhance your ability to ensure that your model has all the correct settings prior to switching on the RF.
How to use this new option:
System Sound Control
This release provides the user with additional control over system sounds which can now be disabled from the Sound Set menu.
From the menu dialog you can turn the startup/shutdown sound on/off as well as the center beep for the LV and DV controls.
When Bluetooth is activated, the internal speaker can be switched ON/OFF.
Model Image Widget
You can now assign an image associated with your model. The image will show as a widget on any widget deck. Each deck can have up to six images of your favorite model.
The image type is Windows BMP and needs to have the following format:
158 x 106 pixels, 24bit at 72dpi.
To associate an image with your model the image must have the same name as your model without the prefix.
For example:
Model name: Ab5HottRigger.mdl
Image Name: HottRigger.bmp
The image needs to be copied into the Image folder on your radio using the Mass Storage mode (System/USB Menu).
If the image does not meet above set requirements it will not be loaded and replaced by a default image.
To assign an image to a model do the following
You can use any type of image such as pictures from your phone or you can copy them online from the product pages of your model. Images will need to be in Windows BMP, cropped or scaled down to fit the required dimensions of 158 x 106 pixels.
Custom Startup Screen
During radio power up an image of the active model can be shown. If no image is present then the default model type image is shown with the loaded model name at the bottom.
The image type is Windows BMP and must have the following format:
480 x 272 pixels, 24bit at 72dpi.
To associate an image with your model the image must have the same name as your model with the “S_” prefix.
For example:
Model name: Ab5HottRigger.mdl
Image Name: S_HottRigger.bmp
The image needs to be copied into the Image folder on your radio using the Mass Storage mode (System/USB Menu).
If the image does not meet above set requirements it will not be loaded and replaced by a default model type image.
Bluetooth Call Function
Added headset call function for Bluetooth headsets that do not have a call function which is needed to enable the headset audio.
This new function is useful in case your Bluetooth headset does not establish a connection. You can either tap on the headphone icon or on the menu dialog to connect.
In case the headset symbol is already shown in blue, it may be necessary to additionally call the headset. If no sound can be heard in the headset, tap the headset symbol again or go to the menu dialog.
iMSB Bluetooth Module Compatibility
This release adds support for the optional iMSB advanced RC telemetry display Bluetooth module. This module replaces the internal Bluetooth module inside the mz-16 or mz-32 providing fast access to iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices.
iMSB is providing a new and enhanced way for logging, monitoring and displaying flights in real-time utilizing the Graupner HoTT Telemetry protocol.
iMSB also has an external Bluetooth module that works with all Graupner HoTT radios.
The iMSB Bluetooth module now also support the HoTT Viewer App for Android.
